LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
Provision of aesthetic solutions for the outdoor environment, encompassing private or commercial estates and park master planning.
EPG provides landscape architectural services covering all aspects of the site development process, including site planning, lighting, planting design and irrigation plans. We have been industry leaders in this sphere since we introduced these services to Barbados in 1984. Our expertise lies in managing the entire lifecycle of the landscape architecture components of projects -- from design conceptualization, to the development of plans and specifications, tendering and town planning applications, right through to installations quality control and management. Our typical landscape site planning projects include the following:
Residential & Commercial Developments
Highways, Transport Corridors and Greenbelts
Public Parks, Civic Squares and Waterfront Schemes
Hotel Resorts and Golf Courses
Private Estates
Our Philosophy
Landscape architecture involves the planning and design of spaces for public or private outdoor use. As a practice, it has significant impact particularly in large-scale projects such as civic squares, waterfronts and recreational parks. The overall philosophy to the planning process is to ensure that all projects are implemented in harmony with the natural environment while meeting the needs for human physical, social and economic development.
Landscape architects consider the relationships between a building and its surroundings, as well as the climate, topography, roads, and planting. They are aware of the relationship between earth, plants, water, and building materials to create an architectural landscape integrated with both the natural and man-made environments.
It truly is the blend of art, architecture and ecological sciences, and these methodologies are best utilized when engaged at the earliest possible stage of the project planning cycle. Within the preliminary site-planning phase of a project, landscape architects evaluate various conceptual design alternatives, using the conservation of existing environmental features as a key consideration in the selection process. Forests and other natural areas can be subject to scientific analysis and environmental assessment, particularly if they are ecologically fragile zones.
